What the Advisory Board does.

The Advisory Board has four roles.

    The surgeons of the Advisory Board advise RSIG and supervise its work.

  2. 02

    Advanced specialty-based workshops, for example in robotic HPB, thoracic, urologic and colorectal surgery, are planned in coordination with the supervising faculty.

  3. 03

    RSIG runs a supervised research pipeline: systematic reviews, survey studies and registry-based projects. Students are matched to projects and mentors, with student authorship as the standard.

  4. 04

    RSIG aims to give its members mentorship and early professional exposure through its supervising faculty.

Who it is for.

The Advisory Board is for practising surgeons, consultants and professors of surgery who want to guide medical students in robotic and minimally invasive surgery.

Today its members work in HPB surgery and liver transplantation, thoracic, cardiac, upper GI, foregut, and metabolic and bariatric surgery, at King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre (KFSHRC), King Saud University Medical City, Alfaisal University, the University Medical Center Mainz in Germany, Mass General Brigham, Harvard Medical School and Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU).

RSIG members are Alfaisal medical students. The group operates under the umbrella of the Robotic Surgery Society of Saudi Arabia (RSS).
